چکیده

This memorandum describes extensions to the Network Time Protocol (NTP) version 3, described in RFC 1305 [MIL92], and the Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) version 4, described in RFC 2030 [MIL96a], to create a framework for interoperability and coexistence of various cryptographic signature and authentication schemes that have been suggested as enhancements to NTP/SNTP [MIL96b]. Without describing any particular approach to authentication in detail, a framework is hereby established for these schemes and methods to coexist and interoperate on a single network or Internet. NTP v3, as specified in RFC 1305, provides support for a method of symmetric-key authentication. This model requires independent, out-of-band, distribution of cryptographic keys, with the associated risk of compromising those keys during distribution. This process is too costly and too great a security risk for universal application. The NTP protocol extensions described here allow for the creation of certified time from a certified and authenticated time source, for use in portable commercial-grade trust, nonrepudiated logging, cryptographic synchronization, and other critical network management

Fast Synchronization of Mirrored Game Servers: Outcomes from a Testbed Evaluation

The deployment of online games over the Internet encompasses the use of novel, smart strategies able to guarantee, on one side, a high level of responsiveness in the game system and, one the other side, the consistency of the computed game state. The use of mirrored game servers has been recognized as a scalable, fault tolerant architectural solution for the support of Multiplayer Online Games ...

Program Analysis of Overlap Area Usage in Self-Similar Parallel Programs

Highly parallel computers have the memory capacity and potential speed to perform very high-resolution time-dependent calculations. Parallel computers with hundreds of fast processors require highly scalable algorithms to avoid wasting expensive resources. On these machines careful attention must be given to program design to fully exploit scalable algorithms. We have proposed a programming mod...

Global Finite Time Synchronization of Two Nonlinear Chaotic Gyros Using High Order Sliding Mode Control

In this paper, under the existence of system uncertainties, external disturbances, and input nonlinearity, global finite time synchronization between two identical attractors which belong to a class of second-order chaotic nonlinear gyros are achieved by considering a method of continuous smooth second-order sliding mode control (HOAMSC). It is proved that the proposed controller is robust to m...

Can high-speed transport protocols be deployed on the Internet? : Evaluation through experiments on JGNII

While a variety of high-speed transport protocols have been proposed to meet the requirement of high throughput data transfer over fast long-distance networks, less attention has been paid to the problems involved when those transport protocols are deployed in heterogeneously shared network environments like the global Internet. We are investigating several high-speed transport protocols: HighS...
